| Biographical Sketch Carl Loveday grew up, attended and graduated from schools in Burlington, Vermont. Following four years in the U.S. Navy he began a broadcast news career in 1962 at WIRD radio in Lake Placid, New York. Loveday moved to Rutland, Vermont where he worked as News Director at WHWB radio. In 1967 he began his television career as News Director of the NBC affiliate WPTZ-TV5 in Plattsburgh, NY. In 1969 his group vice president invited him to become News Director of the CBS affiliate WKYT-TV27 in Lexington, KY. Loveday was asked to return to WPTZ in 1972 where he worked with a great news team for twelve years. During that time the station received several AP Broadcast News awards. In 1984 he searched for new opportunities and was invited to become News Director at Palmer Cablevision in Naples, FL. Palmer Cablevision is credited with creating the first regularly scheduled cable newscasts in the nation. Due to growing unbeatable competition from television stations in Fort Myers the company closed the cable television newsroom in Naples in 1986 and Loveday was asked to become News Director of the company's radio stations, WNOG-FM 93.5, WNOG-AM 1270 and WARO-FM 94.5. When those stations were sold in December 1996, Loveday was one of several employees who sought new opportunities. 1989 was the year Loveday was asked to team up with John Lunsford, columnist for the Naples Daily News to conduct a one hour TV interview program titled Loveday and Lunsford on local cable television. A few years later Lunsford left the program and Loveday was teamed with Naples Daily News Editorial Page Editor Jeff Lytle for Loveday and Lytle which was telecast until December 1996. Loveday then went to work for the NCH Healthcare System in Naples, FL where he conducted a weekly television program called The Medical Journal which included weekly videotaping of surgical procedures and was telecast on WEVU TV10 from 1997-2003. The Medical Journal program received three Telly awards and four Crystal Communicator awards. He produced other hospital projects for presentation on television and managed the hospital's website http://www.nchmd.org from 1996 until his retrirement on his 65th birthday in 2004. Loveday also conducted a monthly informational television program called The Naples Report for the City of Naples on WEVU-TV10 for three years (1998-2000). The program was recorded and repeated several times a month on Collier County's Government Access cable channel. During emergency storm events Loveday volunteered at the Collier County Emergency Management Office broadcasting storm information on the EAS radio station for Collier County from 1996 through 2003. During the same time period he volunteered for the Collier County, FL Supervisor of Elections telecasting election results on the County's Government Access Television Station during elections. ![]() Loveday created and maintains the award winning website for the Rotary Club of Naples North December 8, 1962 he married Marcy Trubshaw. She passed away in 1995. April 1, 2004 he married former Naples, FL Mayor, Bonnie MacKenzie who died June 8, 2005 following a battle with breast cancer. Loveday has two grown married sons and four grandchildren. He has been a member of the Rotary Club of Naples North since 1984.
